Quality Improvement Coordinator/RN - Nephrology

Quality Insights Renal Network 4 (QIRN4) is a federally funded non-profit corporation responsible for quality improvement and data collection activities for Medicare's End Stage Renal Disease program. The Quality Improvement Coordinator is responsible for providing staff support to the Medical Review Board and subcommittees and assisting in the development and management of quality improvement related to dialysis management and clinical and administrative oversight of dialysis facilities in the Network.  This position reports to the Quality Improvement Director.   


•·         Staffs the organization's 19-member Medical Review Board and its subcommittees, including identifying and recruiting members and coordinating, attending, and recording minutes of meetings

•·         Works with staff to design, implement, manage, and evaluate quality improvement projects focused on improving the quality of dialysis patient care at both the facility and regional levels

•·         Coordinates with outside groups (such as state Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) and State Survey Agencies (SSAs)) to analyze and trend data

•·         Coordinates and manages  the Clinical Performance Measures (CPM) Project, including the submission of all contract deliverables

•·         Partners with other organizations to promote community awareness of ESRD

•·         Staffs the Kidney End-of-Life Coalition's Physicians' Workgroup

•·         Provides technical assistance and education to dialysis providers and facility quality improvement personnel

•·         Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Improvement Director, Deputy Director, and/or Executive Director



•·         Expertise in quality improvement principles and approaches

•·         Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with a varied population (patients, nurses, doctors, government officials, etc.)

•·         Superb written and oral communication ability

•·         Ability to collect data (including lab values, demographic statistics, and survey/questionnaire data) and analyze it in order to identify opportunities for improvement

•·         Organizational ability and capability to coordinate a number of ongoing projects simultaneously

•·         Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, Access, and Word

•·         At least 3 years' work experience in clinical nephrology preferred; college degree preferred

•·         Ability to work independently with attention to detail while maintaining a strategic, "big picture" focus

•·         Ability to meet deadlines and work well in stressful situations
